Donald Trump is becoming even more unpopular in the UK, according to a new poll.

The US president’s approval ratings have plummeted in just a month, YouGov found.

Their latest poll tracking European voters’ views of Trump shows that just 10% of Britons have a favourable opinion of him – down from 13% in August.

Meanwhile, the number who are unfavourable towards him has risen from 83% to 85% over the same period.

That means his net approval rating has fallen from minus 70 to minus 75.

Only voters in Italy (minus 76), Germany (minus 78) and Denmark (minus 91) have a lower opinion of Trump than British voters.

His almost-universal unpopularity in Denmark is unsurprising, given the criticisms the president made of the country as he tried to take over Greenland, which is Danish sovereign territory.

The only European nations surveyed with a higher opinion than the UK of Trump are Spain (minus 74) and France (minus 67).

Trump’s falling popularity in Britain comes despite his relationship with Andy Burnham getting off to a positive start.

The president met the new prime minister for the first time in person at the United Nations general assembly in New York last month.

He said Burnham was “going to be a great” PM and said relations between the UK and America were “more up” now that Keir Starmer had been replaced.

However, Trump did repeat his criticism of the government’s “terrible” plans to hand over sovereignty of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius.
