Throughout her time in the Celebrity Traitors castle, Jerry Hall became known as something of a loose cannon and a wildcard among the contestants.
However, it turns out that, at one point, she was bang on the money with her prediction – we just never got to see it.
After his elimination from the Celebrity Traitors aired last week, comedian James Acaster made an appearance on former winner Alan Carr’s podcast Life’s A Beach to compare their experiences on the Bafta-winning reality show.
James Acaster in the Celebrity Traitors castle“They cut out [a scene where] Jerry Hall went right up to me face to face, this close, accused me of being a Traitor,” James recalled during the conversation, revealing that she declared: “I think it’s James.”
Sticking to his secret strategy of always telling the truth, he told her back: “I think it might be me as well, Jerry.”
“You’re very sneaky,” she then responded, to which James apparently said; “I am sneaky, and it could be me.”
“And then she was like, ‘Mmm’, and then went away,” he added. “I went, ‘Surely that’s going in the edit’. No! Nowhere to be seen!”
Jerry Hall had her suspicions about James Acaster on The Celebrity Traitors – though this was “cut out” of the final broadcastSadly, as James mentioned, this exchange didn’t make it into the finished series, and Jerry was banished by her fellow Faithfuls before she had a chance to pursue her theory any further.
James, meanwhile, made it all the way to the penultimate day in the castle, but when the Faithfuls began to piece together that he’d been present at Ross Kemp’s “murder in plain sight” he eventually confessed to being a Traitor to the rest of the group.
Before the series began airing, it had been reported that James was involved in an incident where his co-stars stepped in to suggest filming be paused to allow him to “have a breather” and collect himself when the pressure of the game began to get to the comedian.
A Celebrity Traitors rep subsequently told HuffPost UK: “The Traitors is a unique and immersive game, and we recognise that taking part can be intense at times.
“Our highest priority is always the safety and welfare of everyone taking part. Players are closely monitored and supported throughout by production, which includes a dedicated and experienced welfare team.”
James Acaster’s team had no comment when contacted by HuffPost UK.
Following the airing of his confessions, James told the spin-off show Uncloaked: “The idea of [coming clean] got me through the whole experience because you feel as a traitor sometimes, when you see people have real-life reactions that are bigger than the game, you feel bad.
“And I would have to remind myself they don’t have a game without you, literally, if no one’s doing this stuff, they can’t play, and they all want to play.
“So you are doing an important job here, so they all have something to do, and when they catch you, they’ll be really happy and they’ll like it, and it will feel good to just tell them and see that reaction.”
